Our Core Values

Our mission in the Body of Christ is very clear in scripture. We are to go into all the world proclaiming the Name and Power of Jesus Christ as the image and Son of the Lord God Almighty! Whatever a church's mission statement reads, it must reflect these sacred values. The core values are the "specific ways" that the Lord has called each individual church to fulfill this mission. The Apostle Paul gave us a beautiful picture of the uniqueness of the individual members of a body in 1 Corinthians 12. He spoke of the body having different parts like eyes and ears. They are very different in function and even appearance yet they both participate in the workings of the whole body. Core values have been compared to our own fingerprints. They are similar in design yet each is totally unique just like the thousands of churches around the world. Our core values have been given to us by God and are the unique expression of His love to the world. We hold these values very important and everything that comes to us as an opportunity must fit into these specific values that God has imprinted on our ministry at Word of Life.

Witnessing to the World

In Acts 1:8, Jesus said to His first followers..."and you shall be my witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Sameria, and to the end of the earth." Christ has commanded us to be a art of bringing people into his family and made it very clear that outreach is a priority. Word of Life looks for every opportunity to get involved and be a presence in the community and in doing God's work around the world.

We recognize at Word of Life that God uses imperfect people to do His work and to grow His Kingdom. This means there will be messes...and lots of them. We welcome messes because we know work is getting done which means the Kingdom is expanding.

Rooted in the Word

Just as a person's body will die without nourishment, so will a spiritual life wither without the nourishment that God provides through His Word. At Word of Life we believe God's Word is true and is the catalyst for life-change. It is crucial to our Christian walk and is our source for understanding God's character and for discerning His will for our lives. It is the foundation and guideline for all we do and is our final authority in life.

Dedicated to Service

Jesus made it perfectly clear that serving is not optional in His Kingdom. God expects every believer to get involved in ministry, and we believe that every believer is a minister and is uniquely gifted to serve. At Word of Life we are called to be "Kingdom Thinkers". This simply means placing the needs of the GREATER Body of Christ (locally and world-wide), as more important than the needs of our individual church. Only together can we effectively spread the Gospel and God's love to those in need.

Loving God and Loving Others

We believe that loving relationships should permeate every aspect of church life and that life-change happens best through loving relationships. It is only when we love God and His love fills us that we can truly and richly love others.

Investing in Relationships

As demonstrated by Jesus, the importance of committed relationships cannont be underestimated. Authentic relationships challenge us, encourage us, and at times correct us as we are willing to be TRANSPARENT; being known for who we really are. In addition, the Bilbe places a very high value on the HUMILITY we should demonstrate in all our relationships. At Word of Life we strongly believe this is crucial to the growth of any believer. It is often in relationships that we are most deeply hurt and it is in relationship that we will be healed.

Fully Devoted Followers of Christ

Our goal at Word of Life is to see continued growth in all believers...becoming more and more like Christ. Disciples are not born, they are made. Becoming a fully devoted follower of Christ takes work, committment, and sacrifice.

Experiencing Transformation

We believe God is not just interested in our conversion, but in our transformation as well. Transformation is not a one time deal but is a process and only comes as we choose to allow Christ to work in our lives. In the Greek language, transformation is the same word from which we get the English word, metamorphosis. We are all in this process...WORMS to BUTTERFLIES!
